Each year, 1.5 million people walk through its doors. When I booked our Baltic cruise, the number-one thing I wanted to do in Stockholm was to see the Vasa. Unusual to look at, yet utterly enchanting on the inside, this museum is one of Stockholm’s unmissable gems. Opened recently in 1990, the prime exhibit here is the Vasa, a ship doomed by it’s own weight and height during it’s maiden voyage, that sank less than 1300 metre out into the water. The Vasa capsized, probably due to having too many heavy cannons, shortly after her launch in 1628.
